Coding Granny Squares

This was the start of my interest in generative design. While taking a class on Visual Computing in my undergrad years, I asked the question, can crochet be codified? The patterns themselves have a programming logic about them already, and I wanted to see how to make a visual code for granny squares.

I used shape grammars to design a granny square visual code. Below are the rules for the code.
